Conform Plugin
Quick Info
Plugin for Hash Animation:Master V10.0 beta 7 or higher (tested up to v14.0).
Moves selected CPs exactly onto surfaces in various manners.
You can order the plugin below. Please mail (mbricman@kci-group.com) me a link to your work if you use it!
At the moment only a PC version is available.
Use it for:
- fitting curves on surfaces
- project geometry onto surfaces
- resurfacing
- fitting cloth to body
- morphing to different topology (limited)
- shrink wrapping
of course you can use Conform for a lot of other things since you can also just partially modify your model and combine it with the standard A:M toolset or any other plugin.
Conform is available for $15 through DigitalCandle (see bottom of this page).

Detailed Information
Conform takes the following parameters
Point/Vector (X Y Z)
When you are starting the plugin, this input contains the coordinates of the selections pivot.
If you do not want the pivot to be used for this value, you can either manipulate the pixot in A:M before starting the plugin or enter the desired values here.
Different Methods (see next) are using this input differently.
Method
Toward Point is moving the CPs towards the specified point (above) until they hit a surface.
Away From Point is moving the CPs away from the specified point (above) until they hit a surface.
Along Vector is moving the CPs along the specified vector (above) until they hit a surface.
Outwards is moving the CPs along their surface normal until they hit a surface.
Inwards is moving the CPs along their negative surface normal until they hit a surface.
The selection is omitted when the plugin is searching for the next hit surface.
Keep Distance
keeps the moved CPs away from the hit surface. Negative values are allowed and often useful.
Percentage
scales the plugins effect. If you are using it to morph a head into a sphere, a value of 50% will mean the head will he "half there". Negative values are allowed and sometimes useful.
CPs that do not hit a surface will stay where they were.
Conform is currently only a modeling (NOT animation) tool. It does not create keyframes in actions. But we are working on a generic solution to locally "morph" previously stored CP position data into the current CP position data (Project [Morphine]).
Usage
select the geometry you would like to Conform, then right - click it, and select Plug-ins > Wizards > Conform.
Tip: when using the methods "Outwards" or "Inwards", take care, that the normals of your object are all facing "outwards" (you can display the normals in A:M by pressing [SHIFT]-[1]). If some normals are pointing in the wrong direction, go in patch selection mode, select the offending patches and press [F].
Tip: dense geometry (high patch count) gives better results when conformed to another surface. The density of the target surface does not matter.
Tip: hide the geometry that you do not want to interfere with in the projection process.
Examples

A logo fitted to a surface Along Vertex (0|0|-1).
The back side of the logo was moved with Keep Distance = 0, the front CPs with Keep Distance = 1.

A very low patch count model conformed Away From Point (0|0|0) to the sphere.
Left: original, Middle: Percentage=50, Right: Percentage=99

Jane (modeled by Jim Talbot) trying Mac Girl Gala's (modeled by NAO) dress.
The dress was Conformed Inwards onto Jane's body. with Keep Distance=1
